EMERGENCY’s 2025 Social Report
EMERGENCY is an independent international organisation founded in Italy in 1994 to provide free, high-quality medical and surgical care to victims of war, landmines and poverty, while promoting a culture of peace, solidarity and respect for human rights.
Over more than thirty years, EMERGENCY has provided care to millions of people in 22 countries, built healthcare facilities and trained local staff according to the principles of equality, quality and social responsibility.
Today, the organisation operates in 11 areas around the world, with more than 4,000 people working across its activities and over 2,400 volunteers active in Italy and abroad.
The 2025 Social Report documents EMERGENCY’s work throughout the year through data, results, first-hand accounts and in-depth analysis. It reflects the organisation’s commitment to providing free, high-quality healthcare and promoting a culture of peace, while also giving space to the experiences and perspectives of the people working on its projects every day.
The report is the result of a collaborative process involving all of EMERGENCY’s departments. Quantitative information, financial data and qualitative contributions come together in a coherent narrative designed to present the organisation’s activities, achievements and outlook, while also enabling comparison with previous years.
The Amapola project
Amapola supported EMERGENCY in shaping and developing its 2025 Social Report, starting with an initial workshop to align on objectives and launch the project.
Our work included strategic support, defining the report’s structure and contents, developing its narrative framework and editing the texts. This process brought together contributions, data and insights from across the organisation within a clear, accessible narrative that remained fully consistent with EMERGENCY’s identity.
Particular attention was given to the people working in the field. Through a series of remote video interviews, Amapola gathered first-hand accounts from EMERGENCY’s international staff, bringing into the report the experiences, expertise and perspectives developed across different operational contexts.
The result is a document that combines rigorous reporting with compelling storytelling, making both the scale and impact of EMERGENCY’s work easier to understand while highlighting the contribution of the people who make that work possible every day.
