Start with what your business needs

Companies report on sustainability for different reasons: to prepare for mandatory requirements, answer questions from customers and banks, or better understand their impacts. Choosing an approach means considering what the business wants to achieve, who will use the information and what data is available.

The webinar will compare the revised European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) with the Voluntary Standard (VS), which builds on the VSME. Practical examples will help participants understand who each framework is designed for, how to choose between them and when additional disclosures can strengthen voluntary reporting.

From the rules to the work involved

The discussion will cover companies due to start reporting in 2028 on their 2027 financial year, alongside the benefits of reporting voluntarily. It will also explain the value chain cap, which limits the sustainability information that can be requested from companies within the value chain.

Participants will explore how to identify relevant topics, assess data quality and plan their first steps. The aim is to help businesses develop reporting that supports management decisions and stakeholder relationships, with room to grow over time.

The session will conclude with audience questions.
