A museum to tell the story of light in entertainment

Claypaky (Osram Group) entrusted Amapola with the design and realization of the MoMS  Museum of Modern Showlighting. Housed within the company’s headquarters in Seriate (BG), MoMS is the first European museum specifically dedicated to light, understood as a tool that creates emotions. World leader in the professional lighting sector, Claypaky was founded in 1976. Its projectors animate the showlights of world-class events, such as Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Paul Mc Cartney tours, Cirque du Soleil shows, the Football World Cup, the Olympics, the spectacular Super Bowl halftime, the Oscar ceremonies, and are present in TV studios and theaters around the world. Inside the museum are represented all the sectors in which scenic light is a fundamental element: concerts, musicals, theaters, TV shows, discos, theme park attractions, exhibitions, inaugural events, installations and urban furniture interventions. The chronological evolution of technology is told parallel to that of the sociocultural context. The museum path starts from a brief historical excursus, then focuses attention on the 70s, when light effects that remained impressed in collective memory were born, because linked to great musicals like “Saturday Night Fever”, up to the present day, with the complex motorized projectors currently on the market. Amapola designed the museum path, took care of the visual identity, the contents of the twelve thematic rooms, the website, the signage, the research of furniture pieces, the multilingual audio guides and the multimedia contents of the telematic stations.
