A green flight duty
Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport, 8th national airport with traffic of 9.5 million passengers and 49 airline partners (2019 data) has included sustainability among the strategic themes of industrial development and has already undertaken various initiatives in social and environmental fields. To consolidate capabilities and competencies in managing the environmental responsibility dimension and in correctly communicating CSR policies, projects and initiatives, Amapola delivered a training course dedicated to management. The training project focused particularly on defining strategies, methodologies and communication tools to support front-line management in defining and managing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Amapola designed and conducted an awareness and sharing path on aviation sector scenarios and Airport priorities in communication and sustainability, involving all managers from main company functions for the first time on these themes in 3 training sessions, entirely conducted remotely, plus a final feedback moment. The activity allowed the working group to focus on relevant themes for the company, map stakeholders and conduct a strategic SWOT analysis on internal and external factors that influence organizational choices from environmental, social and economic perspectives. Amapola guided the project with the Workshop-Laboratory methodology, which facilitates training (even remotely) making it more effective, thanks to expert facilitation techniques and direct stakeholder involvement. The Training Laboratory is an Amapola format successfully tested in various contexts and sectors to favor and consolidate internal sustainability culture: thanks to involvement tools and game plans, even virtual ones, the laboratory simulates real dynamics of company decision-making processes, engages participants to personally get involved, facilitates the emergence of viewpoints, experiences and proposals, promotes accountability and sharing among colleagues. The project carried out for Bologna Marconi Airport involved 9 top managers in 4 virtual training sessions and led to building two shared paths for launching new sustainability projects for the airport.
