Silea, the project
Silea Spa, a company among the main operators of the
integrated waste cycle and circular economy present in Lombardy, has chosen for over 5 years to embody sustainability reporting.
Amapola supported the company in two editions of the
Report, 2020 and 2022, supporting Silea in a complete path on the first occasion from creating the materiality matrix, to data collection, text drafting and layout and in updating the materiality matrix on the second occasion.
In both cases the intervention included in-depth
stakeholder engagement activity (internal and external) through workshop sessions and survey sending, consulting to ensure compliance with GRI standards, in addition to identifying and correlating Silea projects/paths with SDGs, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Amapola’s activities
Beyond activities related to data collection, text drafting and subsequent layout connected to the 2020 Report, Amapola’s consulting was characterized by constant
involvement of company management. After a preliminary analysis of the external and internal context, in both cases a focus group was conducted at the Lecco company headquarters involving top management and members of the sustainability working group.
The meetings allowed evaluation, even two years apart between exercises, of the reference scenario in the utilities and waste management sector validating and comparing activities of some reference peers and, concretely, identifying and then reassigning priorities to material themes, in addition to reflecting on the relevance of company commitments regarding
SDGs.
The “
internal listening” activity was necessarily accompanied by an external stakeholder listening process. Using an online questionnaire designed by Amapola, in both cases a selection of key interlocutors was given voice, asked to express their opinions on material themes. Silea handled stakeholder involvement through dedicated communication, while Amapola handled data collection and analysis. This allowed first building and then updating the materiality matrix, integrating internal and external perspectives.
Consulting for compliance with GRI Standards and SDGs
In the final phase of both reporting documents, Amapola performed a
technical editing service on the complete Report text. This activity aimed to verify content adherence to
GRI standards and ensure correct correlation with selected SDGs. This final part of “qualitative consulting” allowed Silea to present complete, transparent documents in line with international best practices.
