Biodiversity: knowing and enhancing seabeds
Alpitour chose Amapola for the realization of a seabed enhancement project.
The project’s starting drivers are constituted by the still scarce knowledge of seabeds and their attractive potential, the growing development of sustainable tourism and the need for better protection of underwater heritage, also highlighted by precise European and international prescriptions.
The project, carried out at the Bravo Alpitour Village in Porto Pino, in the municipality of Sant’Anna Arresi, in the province of Carbonia Iglesias, involved marine biologists and naturalist experts. First, an underwater investigation campaign was carried out to acquire data and video-photographic materials. Then informative materials were prepared, promotional campaigns were activated and enhancement actions were designed, including the identification of underwater paths for snorkeling activities accessible to everyone.
The project was conducted by Amapola in partnership with Golder Associates, a Canadian multinational leader in environmental consulting, design and construction. A similar experience was conducted by Amapola for other clients, such as the municipality of Budoni (SS).
