A public, participatory event organised by Amapola to help build safer workplaces and fairer communities.
Gender-based violence is not an isolated emergency: it is a systemic issue that runs through society and also takes root in everyday language and behaviours. From this awareness comes “CONTRO”, the cultural and participatory event promoted by Amapola, which on 5 March 2026 will bring to Turin an urgent — and highly practical — reflection on the role businesses can play in preventing and tackling gender-based violence. Registration is open HERE.
Attendance is free, but places are limited!
Why “CONTRO”
Workplaces are not just places where things get done: they are relational, cultural and social environments. That’s why we believe companies can (and should) play an active role in countering gender-based violence — by promoting fair models, respectful relationships and concrete prevention policies. They can become a point of reference for the people who move through those contexts every day, and a strategic node within the broader fabric of our communities.
A structured review and collection of corporate practices
What sets “CONTRO” apart is the creation — for the first time in Italy — of a structured review and collection of corporate policies and initiatives that address gender-based violence within organisational settings.
This work will feed into a white paper, developed together with companies, to gather existing experiences, approaches and practical tools, while also identifying shared guidelines and future directions. The document will be presented during the event on 5 March and will form the basis for a multi-voice discussion involving the world of work, research and institutions.
A participatory event to build alliances
“CONTRO” aims to spark peer-to-peer dialogue and encourage concrete alliances between companies, institutions and communities — to imagine and create professional environments grounded in respect, equity and prevention.
The event will take place in the morning (9:00–13:00) and will include:
-
talks from expert speakers
-
presentation of the research findings and the white paper
-
a themed roundtable discussion
-
a participatory design-thinking session
-
informal networking to close
(Speakers and the full programme will be updated shortly on the landing page.)
Who we’re working with
The initiative is held under the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Turin, Torino Social Impact, the Turin Industrial Union (Unione Industriali di Torino) and the Turin Chamber of Commerce, and is delivered in collaboration with the University of Turin and Fondazione Libellula as scientific partners. The event is hosted and supported by CSI Piemonte. Technical partner for LIS (Italian Sign Language) interpreting: Dotwords.
A shared cultural challenge
“We believe that tackling gender-based violence also depends on our ability to turn data and lived experiences into tools for change,” says Micol Burighel, our Head of Communications and Gender Equality. “‘CONTRO’ isn’t just about capturing what’s already there — it’s about building possible futures: new leadership models, inclusive policies, and workplaces that can recognise, prevent and respond to every form of violence, visible and invisible. We’re doing this with strong institutional and scientific partners, and a participatory approach based on sharing knowledge and experience.”
