The organization of a participatory event and the stakeholder engagement process for CEM Ambiente’s 2022/2026 industrial plan
CEM Ambiente is the joint stock company with totally public capital that manages the integrated waste cycle on behalf of the 69 partner municipalities located in the provinces of Milan, Monza and Brianza and Lodi. With the aim of involving its partners in defining priorities and strategies related to the Industrial Plan 2022/2026, the company turned to Amapola to design a participatory event, through a process of facilitation and stakeholder engagement.The methodology: World Caf�
The project aimed at mayors, assessors, councilors involved them in a day of shared reflection, dialogue and discussion on the main themes of the Industrial Plan 2022/2026. The chosen engagement methodology was that of World Caf�, a tool that, leveraging the power of informal conversations, stimulates the sharing of knowledge and the generation of ideas, under the guidance of specially developed reference questions. The discussion themes were three: service, plant engineering, communication. From each debate and from each table of the three World Caf�s organized and managed by Amapola simultaneously with the help of some CEM employees trained to be “facilitators for a day”, outputs, stimuli and orientations were obtained on which CEM Ambiente will work to refine and improve the Industrial Plan 2022/2026.CEM Ambiente people in the front line
The event was preceded by an “approach” and internal involvement phase, which involved CEM Ambiente people. It was the CEM employees, in fact, who guided the work tables as referents, under the supervision of Amapola’s expert facilitators. To prepare them for this role, Amapola organized a training meeting on basic facilitation skills that significantly involved and motivated the personnel who then took the field in guiding the discussions.A brochure to tell the project
To enhance the project and share the insights that emerged during the participatory event, CEM Ambiente developed and distributed a brochure that collects the returns from the three working tables dedicated to the themes of service, plant engineering and communication.
