Oltre l’acqua, Acquedotto Pugliese publishes its 2023 Integrated Report, with the support of Amapola
More than 1 million customers, new Gender Parity Certification and 175,000 tonnes of sludge produced and reused: a tangible commitment for sustainability.
Acquedotto Pugliese (AQP), one of the leading players in the management of the integrated water cycle in Italy and the country’s largest ATO in terms of reach, has published its 2023 Integrated Report, together with a summary of the main highlights. The Amapola team supported the company on the project.
Sustainability is one of the strategic levers used by Acquedotto Pugliese in its transition to becoming a Multiutility. Its commitment is reflected in the 2022 – 2024 Sustainability Plan, which supplements the Business Plan and shares and expounds its goals. In combination with the Sustainability Plan, the 2023 Report tells a story of continuous care for the community and the environment. Starting with the title: Oltre l’acqua, per la vita e il futuro della nostra comunità — Beyond water, for the life and future of our community.
Sustainability reflected in ESG data and numbers
More than 1 million customers served, 2,282 employees all on permanent contracts, over 20,000 kilometres of aqueducts: these are some of the company’s key figures for 2023. From the environmental viewpoint, the 185 treatment plants confirm the attention paid to innovation and infrastructure sustainability. In 2023, AQP also produced and reused 175,000 tonnes of sludge, a figure that reflects its circular approach to waste management. Another important achievement illustrated in the Report is Gender Parity Certification, positioning Acquedotto Pugliese among the first southern Italian utilities to obtain this recognition. Certification accompanied the drafting of the First AQP Gender Report, which examined the situation of the company in 2023 in order to monitor critical areas and set improvement targets, in part through a two-year Action Plan.
An innovative and inclusive reporting project
In addition to the 2023 Integrated Report, the collaboration between Acquedotto Pugliese and Amapola produced the Smart Report, a special mini-website. Adopted for the first time by AQP and developed by Amapola together with our partner BEWE, this solution broadens the potential audience for the report, providing an all-round view of the data and enabling the PDFs of the 2023 Report and the Integrated Report to be downloaded.
Amapola managed the creative project, from the editing to the paging, working with Acquedotto Pugliese on the key messages and the leitmotif of the storytelling, based on the concept of community. We also handled the graphic design for the AQP Gender Report.
Our collaboration continues with the online and offline communication campaign to publicise the results and objectives of the 2023 Report. Yet more confirmation of Acquedotto Pugliese’s commitment to making sustainability a shared resource and culture for all stakeholders.
