Il primo Bilancio di sostenibilità di Gruppo Dimensione Ambiente

Presented at Ecomondo 2024, the document highlights progress toward a circular economy and transparent management.

At Ecomondo 2024, the Gruppo Dimensione Ambiente unveiled its first Sustainability Report, underscoring its commitment to responsible and transparent operations. Prepared with the support of Amapola, which provides consultancy on sustainability and communication, the document marks a pivotal milestone for the company, initiating a reporting journey aimed at sharing environmental, social, and governance results and goals with its stakeholders.

The report was introduced during a roundtable discussion at the company’s Ecomondo stand, titled “Sustainability and Circular Economy: The Importance of Reporting.” Moderated by Paolo Marcesini (Italia Circolare), the event featured contributions from our colleague Emilio Conti, Andrea Firpo (SRT S.p.A.), Alessandro Battaglino (Barricalla S.p.A.), Paolo Ghezzi (Getas Petrogeo s.r.l.), and Marco Pasquinucci (Officine Papage).

The Group’s Commitment to Sustainability

Part of Gruppo Capra, Dimensione Ambiente operates in the waste management and disposal sector, managing two landfills and two treatment plants through its five subsidiaries across various Italian regions. The group generates €120 million in revenue and employs 67 people. This inaugural report reflects a strategic vision focused on reducing environmental impact and promoting a circular economy through actions that foster dialogue with local communities and enhance the sustainability of its infrastructure.

“This document represents a significant moment of accountability for all of us at Gruppo Dimensione Ambiente,” commented Stefano Capra, Sole Administrator of SM Ambiente Holding, the Group’s parent company. “It is our response to the urgent challenges of ecological transition, circular waste management, and climate protection, alongside commitments to worker safety and the sustainability of our infrastructure.”

Key Results and Initiatives

Prepared in alignment with the latest GRI standards, the report highlights major achievements from 2023. Among these are the management of over 1.1 million tons of waste, optimized energy consumption that reduced CO2 emissions to 349 tons, and the accomplishment of “zero workplace injuries” over two consecutive years. The Group’s focus on safety and employee training remains central, with a 10% increase in training hours compared to the previous year, while cultural and sports projects strengthened ties with local communities.

A Collaborative Project with Amapola

Amapola supported Dimensione Ambiente at every stage of the Sustainability Report’s development—from materiality analysis aligned with the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda to data collection and interpretation, as well as drafting and designing the report. The report stands out for its clear and accessible style, facilitating comprehension of data and results for all stakeholders.

With this first edition of the Sustainability Report, Dimensione Ambiente commits to maintaining an ongoing, transparent dialogue, emphasizing the Group’s positive impact on the waste management sector and its role in the ecological transition.
